About MJSC Boat Seat Covers
MJ Specialty Coverings started in 2023 as Alford Fishing, built around solving a simple problem: boat seats don’t hold up to real use — and they're uncomfortable.
Sun cooks them. Heat makes them miserable. Covers slip, trap moisture, fall apart, or just don't fit. We tried what was out there — and it didn’t work the way it should.
So we built our own.
After testing different materials, neoprene stood out. It handled heat better, stayed comfortable in cold weather, and held up to everyday wear. From there, it came down to fit. I taught myself how to sew and worked through multiple designs, dialing in the stretch, shape, and attachment system until the cover stayed put — no sliding, no bunching, no gimmicks.
Then we tested them the only way that matters: on the water. In the sun. Day after day.
The difference was obvious. Seats stayed cooler. Protection actually lasted. Even at home, the reaction was immediate — the kids claimed them as their own before we ever talked about selling them.
That’s when this stopped being a personal fix and became a real product.
We applied for a patent, partnered with a manufacturer, and launched MJ Specialty Coverings to bring a fitted, neoprene seat cover to boat owners who actually use their boats.

MJ Specialty Coverings may look like a medium- to large-sized company, but in reality, it's run by two people.
We both share many hats: inventor, product developer, photographer, website editor, Amazon listing manager, customer service... and mom & dad. Every product is designed, tested, and continuously improved by the same people who answer your emails—usually somewhere between softball practice, extracurricular activities, and snack time.
We don't wear all of these hats to impress anyone. We wear them because we care about building the best boat seat cover we can, so our family—and yours—can enjoy the outdoors with one less thing to worry about.
